The Husband Challenge

I have the best most loving and caring husband ever! He is so great that he even takes care of most of the cleaning and laundry! I really couldn’t ask for anything more.  Except for one thing…. healthy living isn’t a priority for him.  He likes to eat a lot of not so healthy food and if he does eat healthy food he eats it in very large portions.

He doesn’t like to exercise, he doesn’t like whole wheat bread or pasta (although he is more flexible on this after some convincing, and he doesn’t like any seafood.  All of those things are no big crime, but it makes it a challenge for me to think of dinners we will both enjoy.

Has anyone else been in this situation? To my surprise he has started using the gym membership he has which makes me so happy because that’s something we can do together but my goal is to have both of us become more active and eat healthier so we can look and feel our best for a wedding we are both in and our trip to Bermuda, both happening in October. 

Here is my food recap with estimated cal:

b-fast: oatmeal with skim and honey (250 cals)

lunch: PB&J on Arnold Whole Wheat Flatbread and grapes (400 cals)

snack: Oikos Greek Yogurt (90 cals)

snack: homemade oatmeal raisin bar (100 cals)

snack: half a wheat pita and 1 tbsp of hummus (100)

dinner: salad with strawberries, small piece of Italian bread, small small piece of Lasagna (not because I wasn’t hungry, but I didn’t like it too much) (500 cals)

liquid calories: glass of wine (100 cals)

total: 1450

exercise: 1 hour bootcamp focus on cardio (ran a mile, not timed)

Not revealing the fact that what you made is healthy makes it automatically taste better to non-healthy-foodies! Haha
